God speaks in dreams...

I had a dream the other night about the Rapture. I was talking with my youngest son and he slowly started rising in the air and then I started rising in the air. I knew immediately what was happening. The Lord had returned and we were joining Him in the air. I felt excited but sad at the same time. What about my loved ones who will be left behind?

I told my mother about the dream the next morning. Before the end of the day, I had several of my family members calling me asking if they were in the dream and if they were floating toward the sky or not. I honestly felt that I had been thinking about the Lord's return when I went to sleep and that was why I dreamed about it. A few days later I read this scripture in my daily Bible reading:

"For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings." Job 33:14-16 NLT

Where can a guy find an understanding wife?

In my daily Bible reading this morning I read Proverbs 19:14.

"Parents can provide their sons with an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife."

Now, of course, us mothers believe that we have to help the Lord find the understanding wife for our son. But as I read this the Lord reminded me that He has everything under control. All I need to do is turn it over to Him with faith that He will choose the best.

Thank you Lord for always wanting to provide the best for us when we least deserve it.

Today is just a snapshot!

"The righteous face many troubles,
but the Lord rescues them from each and every one.
For the Lord protects them from harm-
not one of their bones will be broken!" Psalm 34:19-20

As I read this verse this morning, I thought about the times these last few weeks that I had spent unnecessary time worrying about this or that. Those nights I found myself up at 2:30 in the morning with my mind just racing with what ifs were useless moments of worry.

Today is just a snapshot but the Lord has my whole life in view.

Reading the entire Bible in one year

Around the last week in December, I asked my friend Christy if she would be interested in committing to reading the Bible through in 2010. She agreed to the challenge. I had purchased a Bible several years ago titled The One Year Bible which has each day's reading assignment so it is very easy to follow. I had chosen the New Living Translation because that is the translation I like to read. Christy prefers a different translation but found the listing of which verses to read each day here so that she can follow along. We have enjoyed this assignment as it gives us verses we can share with one another and discuss.

I challenge you to read along with us. I prefer to read my daily Bible readings in the morning as I enjoy my morning cup of coffee while Christy prefers to read in the evening. Which ever time you find in your busy schedules will be worth the effort. The Lord rejoices when we find the time to explore His Word.

As I mentioned in my Welcome blog, I find the Lord speaks to me at times with whispers so faint that I really have to be focused on Him to hear. The time I spend in the mornings in His Word, helps me to focus on what should be the most important thing in my life-my relationship with God.

Now sometimes He has to yell in my ear, but that is another story for another day.
